The sport's place in Ghana
Boxing has deep roots in Ghanaian culture, particularly in Accra and in the gym culture that has produced generations of fighters from the country's boxing academies. The Ghana Boxing Authority has worked to formalise that tradition, and the country's record at world championship level, across multiple weight classes and multiple decades, is one of African sport's more remarkable records.
