Three Ghanaians have passed one hundred documented awards. All three are musicians, all three came to fame in the last fifteen years, and the next name on the list has fewer than forty. That gap says as much about Ghana's awards calendar as about the artists. A hit record can collect trophies at the Ghana Music Awards, the 3Music Awards, the 4Syte video awards and diaspora schemes in London, New York and Brussels, all in the same year.
Outside music, the competition is thinner and the honours are harder to earn. That is why Kofi Annan sits fifth with a Nobel Peace Prize and ten state orders, the only person in the top ten who is not a musician.

1Sarkodie
120 wins. One hundred and twenty documented wins across sixteen years. Sarkodie arrived at the 2010 Ghana Music Awards and left with five awards in a single night, Artiste of the Year and Album of the Year among them. Two years later he won a BET Award for Best International Act: Africa, and The Headies named him African Artist of the Year in 2012, 2014 and 2015. 101 wins. Stonebwoy's 101 wins lean heavily on consistency. He has taken the Ghana Music Awards Reggae/Dancehall Artiste title ten times, although his 2019 win was later withdrawn by the organisers after the stage clash with Shatta Wale. 100 wins. Shatta Wale sits one win behind his great rival, and his list has a different shape. A large share comes from outside Ghana's main ceremony: eleven International Reggae and World Music Awards and nineteen Ghana Music Awards UK wins, including Artiste of the Year in 2016, 2019 and 2023. Who just missed out
The investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas is 11th with 20 honours, including the US State Department's Hero Acting to End Modern-Day Slavery award. Seven people are level on 19 behind him: the musicians Samini, King Promise, Amerado and D-Black, the actors Idris Elba and Roselyn Ngissah, and the broadcaster Bola Ray. Asamoah Gyan leads the footballers with 15 personal awards, counted without club trophies.
How we counted
Every figure here is a count of wins, not nominations, taken from the award list on each person's Agyedin profile. We built those lists from official winners lists, national newspapers and Wikipedia, and dropped anything we could not trace to a source. Two rules keep the musicians comparable: a collaboration award counts for every credited artist, while a song award counts only for the lead artist. A national or foreign order counts once, and a batch of honorary degrees counts as a single entry.
