Black Sherif

Black Sherif's "Kwaku the Traveller" went to number one on Apple Music in both Ghana and Nigeria in March 2022. His second album, Iron Boy, came out on 3 April 2025, and he earned a BET Awards nomination that year.

Konongo roots

Mohammed Ismail Sherif was born on 9 January 2002 and grew up in Konongo-Zongo, Ashanti Region. With his parents mostly working abroad, he lived with an aunt and other relatives from the age of ten. He attended Konongo Zongo Islamic Basic School, Pinamang Educational Complex and Kumasi Academy, where the literary club sparked his interest in music. He later studied at the University of Professional Studies and then the University of Ghana. He once went by Blacko.

Music

His first song, "Cry for Me", went up on YouTube in 2019, followed by "Mariana" and his debut single "Money" in May 2020. "First Sermon" (May 2021) and "Second Sermon" (July 2021), later remixed with Burna Boy, built his following. His first album, The Villain I Never Was, arrived on 5 October 2022 with "45" and "Soja". He has worked with Sarkodie, Stormzy, Tory Lanez, Bas and Amerado, and partners with sportswear brand ellesse. He won Best New Artiste at the 2022 Ghana Music Awards, several 3Music Awards that year, and the BET Hip Hop Awards prize for best international flow in 2023.
