Abanga Fuseini Yakubu

Abanga Fuseini Yakubu, known in the party as NPP Abanga, is a Ghanaian politician and the National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He won the post at the party's National Delegates Conference in Kumasi on 3 October 2026 with 1,550 votes, well ahead of Clement Opoku Gyamfi and four others, and took over the youth wing from Salam Mustapha.

Education

He attended Boinsu King of Kings Preparatory and Junior High School and Okomfo Anokye Senior High School at Wiamoase in the Ashanti Region. In 2014 he went to the University of Ghana to read political science and archaeology, and he later took certificate courses at GIMPA and an MBA programme at Cardiff Metropolitan University in the UK.

Party career

At Legon he represented Jubilee Hall and was elected TESCON organiser in his first year. After a failed bid for TESCON president in 2015 he was taken under the wing of John Boadu, then the NPP's National Organiser. He mobilised students for opposition protests before the 2016 election, including the "Dumsor Vigil" over power cuts, the Let My Vote Count demonstrations and the "Won Gbo" march over the cost of living. In 2019 he worked on the Western North referendum campaign and narrowly lost the NPP parliamentary primary in Aowin.

His 2026 campaign for youth organiser centred on a pledge to mobilise four million young voters for Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2028 election.
