Ghanaian music has more award shows than most countries its size, and that makes the trophy count a useful test of staying power. Nobody reaches a hundred wins with one big record. The three artists at the top of this list got there by winning something almost every year for over a decade.
The top three also show how differently a career can be rewarded. Sarkodie's wins are spread across every major scheme. Stonebwoy's are anchored in one category he has won ten times. Shatta Wale's lean on the diaspora awards in London and the reggae world's own ceremony.

120 wins. Sarkodie's first major night set the pattern: five Ghana Music Awards in 2010, Artiste of the Year among them. His 29 wins at the Ghana Music Awards are the backbone of the list, and he has added fifteen 3Music Awards, fifteen Ghana Music Awards UK and twenty 4Syte video awards. The legends, re-counted
Ghana's highlife greats built their careers before today's crowded awards calendar, when there was one major ceremony a year instead of half a dozen. Going back through the Ghana Music Awards' own winners lists filled many of the gaps. Ofori Amponsah now has 17 documented wins, most from an extraordinary run between 2005 and 2008. Kojo Antwi has 16, including Artiste of the Year in 2001 and 2003 and Artiste of the Decade in 2009. Daddy Lumba has 14, from his first Ghana Music Awards in 2000 to a national Grand Medal in 2024 and a Lifetime Achievement award in 2026. Diana Hamilton, with 18, is the most awarded gospel artist on the list.
None of them reaches the top ten, and that says more about the number of ceremonies than about the music. This ranking measures documented wins, not greatness.
How we counted
Every figure here is a count of wins, not nominations, taken from the award list on each person's Agyedin profile. We built those lists from official winners lists, national newspapers and Wikipedia, and dropped anything we could not trace to a source. Two rules keep the musicians comparable: a collaboration award counts for every credited artist, while a song award counts only for the lead artist. A national or foreign order counts once, and a batch of honorary degrees counts as a single entry.
Totals change as new ceremonies happen. The Awards Leaderboard updates itself from the profiles, so it will always be a step ahead of this page. If you can document a win we have missed, send it to our corrections desk.
