Maccasio

Maccasio, born Sherif Abdul Majeed on 6 April 1995, is a hip hop, hiplife and Afropop artiste from the Dagbon kingdom in the Northern Region. He raps mainly in Dagbani, mixing in English, Hausa and Twi, and he is one of the biggest live draws in northern Ghana.

Career

He found his talent at 14. His signature tag, Anye kan laraa, is one of the best known in the north. He released Boussu in March 2014, Oshihila Nkpe in 2015, Ninsala at Tamale Sports Stadium in August 2017, Zero to Hero in January 2019 and Glory in 2022. His singles include Dagomba Girl with Mugeez, Too Big and Make Am with Shatta Wale, That Girl with Patapaa and Work with Kofi Kinaata.

Live shows

He hosted Shatta Wale's Too Big concert at a packed Tamale Stadium and drew close to 18,000 people there for his own peace concert. In February 2017 he headlined the Northern Explosion concert at the Accra Sports Stadium, and he has twice filled the 4,000-capacity Bukom Boxing Arena. A planned 2026 concert with Mr. P was cancelled after the death of the Yaa Naa, Mahama Abukari II.

He has been northern brand ambassador for Giant Malt (2016) and Infinix Mobile (2022), and has a five-year deal with Modern Security Consult Ghana.
