Benjamin Teiko Aryeetey

Benjamin Teiko Aryeetey is a retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana who spent forty years on the bench. He was born on 14 June 1941.

After Mfantsipim School he trained as a teacher at Winneba Training College, took his A levels at Achimota School and read law at the University of Ghana, graduating in 1968.

He became a district magistrate in April 1971, a High Court judge in 1989 and a judge advocate with the Ghana Armed Forces a year later. He joined the Court of Appeal in 1999, and President Mills appointed him to the Supreme Court in 2009, alongside Nasiru Gbadegbe and Vida Akoto-Bamfo; he was sworn in on 2 November 2009. He taught judicial ethics to career magistrates, examined practical advocacy at the Ghana School of Law, and chaired the board of Maranatha University College.
