Cynthia Lamptey

Cynthia Jane Naa-Koshie Lamptey is a lawyer and career prosecutor who was Ghana's first Deputy Special Prosecutor and acted as Special Prosecutor after Martin Amidu resigned. She was born at Adabraka in Accra on 15 December 1959.

She went to Aburi Girls' Secondary School and Mfantsiman Girls' Secondary School, took a degree in law and sociology at the University of Ghana and was called to the bar in March 1988. She joined the Attorney-General's department and spent more than two decades there, rising to Director of Public Prosecutions. Her cases included the prosecution of Alfred Woyome over his judgment debt payment, the National Service Scheme payroll fraud, and two women who led a cocaine export ring to the United Kingdom.

She left the department in 2015 and became deputy director of the Legal Aid Board and then Deputy Registrar-General. In 2018 she was appointed deputy to Martin Amidu, under whom she had worked when he was Attorney-General. When Amidu resigned in November 2020 she led the Office of the Special Prosecutor until Kissi Agyebeng took office in August 2021.
