Edward Nathaniel Moore

Edward Nathaniel Moore was a lawyer who served as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice under Acheampong's National Redemption Council from 1972 to 1975. He was born at Winneba on 24 September 1926 and died in London on 7 October 1998.

His grandfather, George Edward Moore, sat on the Gold Coast Legislative Council. He went to Adisadel College, taught and worked at the Posts and Telecommunications Department, then read law at the University of Hull and was called to the bar at the Middle Temple in 1956.

He practised from 1957, was treasurer and later, from 1971 to 1972, president of the Ghana Bar Association. He chaired New Times Limited, sat on the board of the Bank of Ghana, chaired the Moore Commission into the affairs of the cooperative movement, and arbitrated a dispute between the staff of Barclays and Standard Bank. The military government made him Attorney-General on 13 January 1972, the day of the coup, and he served until October 1975, when Gustav Koranteng-Addow succeeded him.
