Miracle

Miracle, born Samson Andah in Accra on 17 May 1992, is a Ghanaian-Australian hip hop artist based in Sydney. He now also records as BLESSED.

Early life

His family moved to Australia shortly after he was born, living in Melbourne and Canberra before settling in Quakers Hill, Sydney. A respiratory infection at birth nearly killed him, which is how he got the nickname "miracle baby". He learned guitar, drummed in punk bands, and turned to rap after hearing Kanye West's The College Dropout.

Career

His 2010 track Better Dayz, built on a sample of Pete Murray's Better Days, started as a school project. The video caught the attention of Israel Cruz, and Sony Music signed him that year. He has toured widely in Australia, often opening for US rappers. His EP Mainland (2014) was produced by Styalz Fuego and includes Endless Summer with Youngblood Hawke. He won Best Rap Artist at the 2014 Afro-Australia Music and Movie Awards.
