MzVee

MzVee rose from a Lynx Entertainment girl group to become one of Ghana's leading female solo artists, a versatile singer moving between afropop, dancehall and R&B with equal ease.

Early life

She was born Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda on 23 June 1992 in Accra. Her route into the industry ran through Lynx Entertainment, the label that would shape the first phase of her career.

From D3 to solo star

She first emerged in 2012 as the lead singer of the Lynx girl band D3, which scored hits like Good Girls Gone Bad before disbanding in 2013. She then launched a solo career under the same label, and the move paid off quickly, earning her the New Artiste of the Year award at the 2015 Ghana Music Awards.

Music

Her early solo work produced singles such as Borkor Borkor, Natural Girl and Dancehall Queen, showcasing a range that let her switch between smooth afropop and harder dancehall. She built a strong following as one of the most prominent women in a male-dominated scene.

Later career

She parted ways with Lynx Entertainment in 2019 to strike out independently, a bold step that reflected her ambition to control her own career. MzVee has remained a significant figure in Ghanaian music, admired for her vocal versatility and her staying power in a competitive industry.
