About Nanky
Nanky (born Haruna Buhari) is a Ghanaian singer and songwriter from Tema whose music draws on Afropop, Afro R&B and highlife. He won Unsung Act at the 2021 Ghana Music Awards.
Early life
He was born and raised in Tema. He attended Padmore Primary School in Community One and Akodzo Junior High School, then studied general arts at Chemu Senior High School. He started out in a Tema group called UG360 before going solo.
Career
Signed to Sultan Incorporation, he released his first single, Favour, featuring Sarkodie, in 2020, along with the EP Remedy. Cassette, featuring King Promise, followed in 2021. That year he won Unsung Act at the Ghana Music Awards, and at the 2022 3Music Awards he was nominated for Breakthrough Act of the Year.
Later singles include Cloud 9 (2022), King Solomon and Yaa Baby (2023), and Medicine (2025). His album Haruna, named after himself, came out in 2026.
