Nii Okai

Nii Okai leads the Harbour City Mass Choir, a Tema-based choir that works with young people through gospel music, school outreach and counselling. His album Saving Hearts won the Music for Development award at the 16th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

Background

Ernest Nii-Okai Okai was born on 19 September 1977. He attended Mfantsipim School and KNUST and holds an MA in mission and theology. He is a banker by profession and lead pastor of the International House of Virtue, known as the iChurch, in Tema, having earlier worshipped at St. Paul's Methodist Church there. He is married to Yaa Okai and they have three children.

Music

His first album, Moko Be, was an eight-track record produced by KODA, with the hits "Woana Na" and "Moko Be" and guests including Danny Nettey and Nana Yaa Amihere. Hymnz Unlimited, Worshipful, Saving Hearts and Holy Writings followed. Around 2010 he set up Nii Okai Ministries, a travelling music mission. He has worked with KODA, Eugene Zuta, Danny Nettey and Diana Hopeson.
