About Nana Tuffour
Nana Tuffour, born James Kwaku Tuffour and nicknamed "9-9-2-4", was a Ghanaian highlife singer and songwriter. He is remembered for "Aketekyiwa", "Abeiku" and "Owuo Sei Fie", and released 15 albums.
Early life and career
He was born on 14 February 1954 in Kumasi. He started out with the keyboardist Alex Konadu and then played piano in the Wanto Wazuri Band before becoming lead vocalist of the Waza Africo Band. His first album, Highlife Romance, came out in 1979.
He later spent time in Nigeria as keyboardist for the jùjú star King Sunny Adé.
Death
He died on 15 June 2020, aged 66, from COVID-19.
