Abdul Fatawu

Sporting CP put a €60 million release clause in Abdul Fatawu Issahaku's contract when they signed him from Steadfast FC in April 2022. He was 18, and a year earlier he had been named the best player at the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, which Ghana won.

Tamale to Lisbon

He was born on 8 March 2004 in Tamale and came through the Tamale Utrecht Academy before joining Steadfast, where he scored 20 league goals in 27 games. A loan spell at Dreams FC in 2021-22 brought six goals in seven matches and the Ghana Premier League Player of the Month award for November 2021. That year he also won the Odartey Lamptey Future Star award and the SWAG Discovery of the Year.

Leicester City

Chances were limited at Sporting, and on 31 August 2023 he went on loan to Leicester City. He was part of the side that won the 2023-24 Championship and was voted the club's Young Player of the Season. Leicester made the move permanent on 1 July 2024 for a reported €17 million including add-ons. He won the EFL Goal of the Month in August 2025 and February 2026 and Leicester's Goal of the Season for 2025-26. On 21 July 2026 he signed a five-year contract with Ipswich Town.

Black Stars

He made his senior debut in a World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe in September 2021 and had 32 caps and three goals by July 2026, one of them in a 2-1 defeat to Germany in March 2026. Carlos Queiroz named him in Ghana's squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
