Alukyi, born Yankey Caleb Alukyi around the year 2000, grew up with an academic reputation that few Ghanaian social media personalities can claim. He represented Wesley Grammar Senior High School in the 2017 National Science and Maths Quiz, Ghana's most prestigious secondary school science competition, earning the school a place on the national stage. That image of a sharp, quiz-bowl student would later stand in pointed contrast to the high-octane persona he built online as a young adult.

After Wesley Grammar, Alukyi enrolled at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to study engineering. It was during this period that he began building a following on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter) under the handle @alu_kyi and on TikTok, where he documented a lifestyle that increasingly drew attention for its luxury and audacity. His content blended the swagger of Ghanaian internet culture with a candour about money, gambling and ambition that resonated widely with young Ghanaians.

Alukyi became nationally prominent through his involvement in high-risk online gambling. He streamed and posted about his betting sessions openly, accumulating winnings that at one point rose to approximately $950,000. He fell short of crossing the one-million-dollar threshold when a chase for the remaining $50,000 reversed his fortunes. The episode was widely followed and discussed in Ghana, and Alukyi was candid about the loss, later using his platform to advocate for responsible gambling and encourage his followers to set limits and know when to walk away.

Despite the setback, he remained a figure of significant public interest and continued to project an image of affluence. His car collection attracted particular attention: he owned a Mercedes-Benz GLE, multiple Range Rovers and a G-Wagon before making the acquisition that sealed his reputation. In July 2025, Alukyi cleared a customised Rolls-Royce Cullinan at the Tema Port, paying over GH₵1.1 million in import duties and taxes. The vehicle, valued at approximately $550,000, made him one of the youngest Ghanaians known to own a Rolls-Royce. He documented the clearance process on social media, sharing the breakdown of costs, and the video went viral. He later drove the car to KNUST SRC Week, appearing on campus with the Rolls-Royce Cullinan in what became a widely circulated moment.

Alukyi's income streams include brand endorsements, content monetisation, online streaming partnerships and gambling winnings, though the precise composition of his wealth has been a subject of public speculation. Ghanaian social media commentators have debated whether his resources derive primarily from gambling, family money or business dealings, a question he has not fully addressed. He has spoken of ambitions to transition away from gambling entirely, build lasting wealth, run large-scale giveaways and, in his own words, make his mother proud.

He runs monthly giveaways for his online community and has built a following that spans Ghanaian Twitter, TikTok and across the wider West African internet. His story is frequently cited as an example of the new generation of Ghanaian digital-native personalities who have achieved public prominence outside the traditional entertainment and music industries, drawing both admiration and scrutiny in equal measure.
