Early life
He was born Anthony Yeboah on 6 June 1966 in Kumasi, and made his professional debut as a teenager with Asante Kotoko in 1981, the club that first showcased his goalscoring gift before Europe came calling.
Bundesliga star
He moved to Germany in 1988, joining Saarbrucken and becoming one of the first black players to make a real mark in the Bundesliga. At Eintracht Frankfurt from 1990 to 1995 he was sensational, scoring 68 goals in 123 games and finishing as the league's top scorer twice, in 1993 and 1994.
Leeds United and the famous volleys
He signed for Leeds United in 1995, and it was there that he produced the goals that defined his legend, including a stunning volley against Liverpool that won the BBC Goal of the Season, and another spectacular strike against Wimbledon. He was voted Leeds Player of the Year, the club's first non-British winner, scoring 32 goals in 66 games.
Legacy
