Father Ankrah

Father Ankrah is the stage name of Eric Duodu Ankrah, a Ghanaian comedian and skit maker who runs one of the most-subscribed YouTube channels in Ghana. He was born on 21 February 1993. Fans sometimes call him the African Charlie Chaplin.

Career

Ankrah started making content on Facebook in 2012 before moving to YouTube, where his short comedy skits found a large audience. He received YouTube's gold plaque after passing one million subscribers, and his channel grew especially quickly between November 2022 and May 2023. In August 2023 Ghanaian media reported that he had overtaken the travel vlogger Wode Maya as the most-subscribed YouTuber in the country, and he later became the first Ghanaian creator to pass two million subscribers.

Views on creator pay

He has spoken publicly about money in the creator economy, saying that TikTok does not pay Ghanaian creators directly and criticising colleagues who exaggerate their earnings.

Personal life

He surprised his mother with a new car on her 60th birthday, a video that was widely shared online.
