Kevin-Prince Boateng

Kevin-Prince Boateng won Serie A in his first season at AC Milan and, years later, a La Liga title during a loan at Barcelona. Born in Berlin, he chose Ghana at senior level and played at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups.

Wedding, Berlin

He was born on 6 March 1987 in Berlin and grew up in the Wedding district. His mother, Christine Rahn, is German and his father is Ghanaian; Boateng has said his father left and his mother brought up five children alone. Defender Jérôme Boateng is his younger paternal half-brother, and his uncle Yaw Boateng Gyan was a national organiser of Ghana's NDC. He joined Hertha BSC at seven and debuted for the first team against Eintracht Frankfurt on 13 August 2005. In 2005 he won the Fritz Walter Medal in bronze for under-18 players, and in 2006 the gold for under-19s.

A wandering career

From Hertha he went to Tottenham, had a short loan at Borussia Dortmund, then joined Portsmouth. In 2010 he moved to Milan and won the Scudetto and the Supercoppa Italiana in 2010-11. After three seasons he returned to Germany with Schalke, came back to Milan for six months in 2016, then played for Las Palmas, Eintracht Frankfurt and Sassuolo. Sassuolo loaned him to Barcelona, where he picked up a league winner's medal, before spells at Fiorentina, Beşiktaş on loan and Monza from September 2020. He has since moved into management.

Ghana

After playing for Germany's youth teams he won 15 caps for Ghana between 2010 and 2014, scoring twice.
