Kurt Edwin Simon Okraku

Kurt Edwin Simon Okraku is a Ghanaian football administrator and former sports journalist who has served as President of the Ghana Football Association since October 2019. Born on 1 June 1971, he has become one of the most influential figures in African football governance, holding senior positions within both the continental and world governing bodies of the sport.

Okraku's professional life began in the media. He trained as a journalist at the Ghana Institute of Journalism and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Ghana, later earning an MBA from the University of Liverpool. His early career as a sports journalist gave him a deep familiarity with Ghanaian football before he moved into administration and club ownership, a transition that would define his later work.

He made an early mark in football management as Communications and Marketing Director of Accra Hearts of Oak between 2006 and 2007, and served as administrative manager of the Ghana League Clubs Association from 2008 to 2010. In 2009 he founded Dreams FC, nurturing it into one of Ghana's respected football institutions and serving as its executive chairman. This blend of media, administrative and club-building experience prepared him for national leadership of the sport.

Okraku was elected President of the Ghana Football Association in October 2019, taking charge of an organisation that was rebuilding its credibility after a period of turmoil in Ghanaian football governance. As president he has overseen the national teams, domestic competitions and the administration of the game, working to restore confidence and stability. His stewardship has coincided with continued Ghanaian participation on the international football stage and efforts to strengthen the domestic league.

His influence has spread well beyond Ghana. He was appointed Second Vice-President of the Confederation of African Football, giving him a significant voice in the running of the continental game, and in October 2025 he was named Chairman of FIFA's Anti-Racism and Anti-Discrimination Committee, a role that placed him at the heart of one of world football's important social agendas. These appointments reflect his standing among the sport's global administrators. Okraku continues to lead Ghanaian football while representing the country's interests in the corridors of CAF and FIFA, cementing his position as a prominent African football executive.
