Lancaster and Arrangement

Lancaster and Arrangement are the online names of Ghanaian twin brothers Kamal Abubakari (Lancaster) and Jamal Abubakari (Arrangement). The pair built a large following on social media with videos of designer clothes, luxury cars and custom diamond pendants bearing their initials. In 2026 they became the youngest high-profile Ghanaians caught up in the United States crackdown on romance fraud.

Flashy online life

Still in their early twenties, the twins were regulars on Ghanaian social media, often posing together in matching outfits with heavy chains, iced-out watches and rings. Their spending drew constant debate online about where the money came from. After their arrest, an old video of them racing alongside a police pickup truck resurfaced and went viral again.

Arrest in the United States

The FBI arrested both brothers, then 22, around the start of May 2026, shortly after they arrived in the United States. Early social media posts claimed they were picked up at JFK airport, but the US Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Ohio confirmed on 14 May 2026 that the twins and a third defendant had been arrested in Virginia and indicted. The investigation was led by the FBI's Cleveland Division.

The $9 million case

Prosecutors said that between July 2024 and April 2026 the network created fake personas on dating sites and social media to build romantic relationships with older Americans, then persuaded them to send money to accounts the group controlled. Part of the money was passed on to accomplices in Ghana and elsewhere. Victims in Ohio and about two dozen other US states, as well as in Germany and Austria, lost more than $9 million.

Guilty pleas

On 13 October 2026 both brothers pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Their co-defendant, Amanda Joy Opoku-Boachie, a 53-year-old American from Kula, Hawaii, entered the same plea on 20 October. The twins agreed to forfeit the jewellery seized when they were arrested, including luxury watches, rings, chains, medallions and earrings. US Attorney David M. Toepfer credited eight Ghanaian agencies with helping the case, among them the Attorney-General's Office, EOCO, the Ghana Police Service, the Cyber Security Authority and the National Intelligence Bureau.

Sentencing

The charge carries a maximum of 20 years in prison. The brothers are due to be sentenced on 9 February 2027 and Opoku-Boachie on 10 February 2027. Their case came the same month that Kofi Boat pleaded guilty in a separate $100 million romance fraud case in New York.
