Salinko

Abraham Kofi Essuman Davis, known professionally as Salinko, was born on 15 September 1979 in Kwabre in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Widely regarded as one of Kumawood's most gifted comedians, he built his reputation through a combination of sharp timing, physical expression, and a genuine feel for the absurdities of everyday Ghanaian life.

He began his acting career in 2006 and quickly rose to prominence through roles that balanced slapstick humor with a deeper observational quality. His comedic performances earned him recognition across Ghana and cemented his place in the upper tier of Kumawood talent. Beyond performing, Salinko expanded into production and direction, contributing to Ghanaian cinema as a storyteller rather than simply a face on screen. His work as a filmmaker reflects a commitment to projects that engage with the country's social and cultural realities.

In 2016, Salinko made an unexpected pivot into politics, contesting as a parliamentary candidate for the Progressive People's Party in the Atwima Kwawoma Constituency in Ashanti. The campaign introduced him to voters beyond his entertainment fanbase, though he did not win the seat. The experience added a civic dimension to a public identity already shaped by comedy and film.

In his personal life, Salinko experienced a difficult and well-publicised divorce, with his ex-wife Nancy Owusu leaving the marriage and sparking considerable media coverage. He has two children from that relationship. In November 2024 he remarried, taking Lydia Arthur as his wife in a private ceremony.

Salinko has also demonstrated a strong philanthropic commitment, pledging monthly financial support for over 300 veteran actors and musicians. That act of generosity, unusual for its scale and consistency, earned him widespread respect within the industry and beyond. He remains active in Kumawood, still acting, still directing, and still capable of making a room laugh.
