Aisha Ayensu

Aisha Ayensu launched her fashion label in March 2008, in the final year of a psychology degree, and named it Christie Brown after the grandmother who taught her to love dressmaking. The house has since dressed Beyonce, Genevieve Nnaji and Jackie Appiah.

Training

She attended Achimota School and trained in fashion at the Joyce Ababio College of Creative Design.

A year after launch she won Emerging Designer of the Year at the Arise Africa fashion event in South Africa, and in 2010 hers was the only Ghanaian label invited to Arise L'Afrique-a-Porter during Paris Fashion Week. Forbes named her among its most promising entrepreneurs in 2016, the year she spoke to Afua Hirsch for the BBC World Service programme In the Studio ahead of her tenth-anniversary collection. She was African Designer of the Year at the Glitz Style Awards in 2018 and 2019.
