Bill Asamoah

Bill Asamoah is one of the leading actors of Ghana's Kumawood industry, a veteran performer known for his calm, dignified screen presence and for the wise, gentlemanly roles that made him a household name.

Early life

He was born William Nana Yaw Asamoah Addo on 1 May 1972 in Kumasi, the city at the heart of the Twi-language film industry he would come to define.

Kumawood career

He began acting in the early 2000s and quickly rose to become one of the biggest stars of Kumawood, appearing in more than 200 local-language films. His breakthrough came with the two-part hit The Mighty One, which made him a nationwide favourite, and his measured, authoritative style set him apart in an industry often built on broad comedy.

Business and leadership

He is the chief executive of Okyerema Entertainment, a production company he founded to promote Ghanaian stories, and runs other businesses in Kumasi. He has also served as the Ashanti Regional President of the Ghana Actors Guild, and was appointed a tourism and sanitation ambassador by the Ghana Tourism Authority.
