DKB Ghana

Kwaku Sintim-Misa has called DKB the new king of Ghanaian comedy. The comedian, actor and host first reached a continental audience as Ghana's housemate on Big Brother Africa season 7 in 2012.

Accra upbringing

Derick Kobina Bonney was born at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital on 3 September 1985 to Caroline Mensah and Harry Jerry Bonney, both Ga-Adangbe. At St. John's Grammar School he danced and rapped at school events, and after entering the University of Ghana in 2005 he started doing stand-up after a strong showing at a campus event.

Comedy career

He appeared on Metro TV's Citizen Comedy Show and Viasat 1's Laugh A Minute, and in 2011 performed on M-Net's Comedy Club Lagos 2. In February 2014 he took the DKB Live Comedy Tour around Ghana. Two years later he created Comedy Express, a monthly show that went online in July 2020 during the pandemic. He has shared the stage with Aron Kader and Eddie Kadi, and has run shows on several TV channels at once alongside a radio comedy programme.
