Ekow Blankson

Ekow Blankson was a Ghanaian actor, director and media executive. He ran radio and television stations for several of Ghana's biggest media groups and acted in Ghanaian and international productions, and at the time of his death was Commercial Manager of GhanaWeb.

Education

He was born on 16 March 1972. He earned a Diploma in Theatre Arts and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Ghana, Legon, and a marketing certificate from Heineken Global Commerce University in Amsterdam.

Media career

He was Managing Director of TV Africa, Director of Brands and Corporate Communications at Media General Ghana, and General Manager of Luv FM and Nhyira FM for the Multimedia Group, before joining GhanaWeb as Commercial Manager.

Acting

His films include Frozen Emotion (2006), Checkmate (2010) as Kiki Newton, Rhapsody of Love (2010), The Pool Party (2011), Death After Birth (2011), The Secret Burden (2012), In April (2016), A Woman's Scorn (2020), Borga (2021), Savannah (2021), Famous (2021) and Red Carpet (2022), and he had a small part in the BBC and Netflix series Black Earth Rising (2018). He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 2010 Ghana Movie Awards and for Best Actor at the Africa Movie Academy Awards.

Death

He died on 3 October 2022, aged 50, after a short illness.
