About Caleb Kudah
Caleb Kudah, a Citi FM and Citi TV journalist, was detained and assaulted by National Security operatives in May 2021 after filming abandoned MASLOC vehicles at the National Security Ministry. The ministry later admitted its officers had acted inappropriately.
Journalist and host
He reports for Citi FM and Citi TV and hosts BackPage, Citi TV's satirical news programme.
The 2021 incident
On 11 May 2021 he went to the ministry to check a MASLOC official's claim that all the agency's vehicles had been distributed, and filmed cars that had sat unused there for years. He was held and questioned for more than an hour, and said he was slapped and kicked. Operatives also went to Citi's offices for his colleague Zoe Abu-Baidoo, who had received the footage. Citi petitioned the National Media Commission, media groups and the Committee to Protect Journalists condemned the assault, and the officer named in the case, Lt Col Agyeman, was removed from his post at the ministry.
