Gifty Anti

Gifty Anti is one of the most respected broadcasters and gender advocates in Ghana, a veteran television host whose long-running talk show gave a platform to the issues facing women, and whose work off screen has championed girls across the country.

Early life and education

She was born Oheneyere Gifty Anti on 23 January 1970 in Tema. She attended Mfantsiman Girls and the Ghana Institute of Journalism, where she served as women's commissioner, and later earned a master's degree in international journalism from City, University of London.

Broadcasting career

She began her media career through internships at the Ghana News Agency and the Ghanaian Times before joining Ghana Television, where she rose from floor manager to become one of the country's most familiar presenters. She is best known as the host of The Standpoint, a talk show devoted to social, cultural, political and gender issues, and to the concerns of women in particular.

Advocacy and writing

A committed feminist and gender advocate, she founded the Girl in Need Foundation and the Awo Dansoa Reading Project, initiatives that have supported thousands of girls in Ghana and beyond. In 2019 she published her first book, A Bit of Me, which reached the top of Amazon's charts within a week.
