Daniel Amartey

Daniel Amartey arrived at Leicester City in January 2016 and was a Premier League champion within four months, playing five games in the club's title season.

Sweden and Denmark

Born on 21 December 1994, he came through International Allies in Ghana, where Magnus Pehrsson spotted him at 16 while preparing to take over Djurgården. The Swedish club tied up his rights from his 18th birthday and brought him over for short spells in 2011 and 2012. He debuted in 2013 and scored the equaliser in that year's Svenska Cupen final, which Djurgården lost on penalties to IFK Göteborg. Swedish papers ranked him among the league's top 20 players that season. Copenhagen paid about €2.5 million for him in July 2014.

Leicester and after

Leicester signed him on 22 January 2016 for a fee reported at up to £6 million. He first played on 27 February 2016 against Norwich and became a regular in midfield the next season after N'Golo Kanté left, later playing mostly in defence. He left in 2023 for Beşiktaş in Turkey, where his contract was ended by mutual agreement in 2024. He has since been without a club.

Ghana

He has played for the Black Stars as a defender and midfielder, including at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
