Jordan Ayew

Jordan Ayew has forged a long Premier League career out of graft, versatility and an unshakeable work ethic, carrying the famous Ayew name into English football's top flight. The youngest of a footballing dynasty, he has become a Ghana mainstay in his own right.

Football family

He was born Jordan Pierre Ayew on 11 September 1991 in Marseille, France, the son of the legendary Abedi Pele and the younger brother of Andre and Ibrahim Ayew, both Ghana internationals. Growing up around his father's old club gave him an early football education few could match.

Club career

He began at Marseille, scoring on his senior debut in 2009, before spells at Sochaux and Lorient. A move to England with Aston Villa in 2015 saw him finish as the club's top scorer, a feat he repeated at Swansea City. He then joined Crystal Palace, where he made more than 200 appearances and became a dependable Premier League forward, later moving on to Leicester City.

Ghana

He made his senior debut for the Black Stars in 2010 and has since earned well over 100 caps. He represented Ghana at the 2014 and 2022 World Cups and at six Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, helping the side reach the final in 2015.

Often asked to play out of position and rarely spared criticism, Jordan Ayew has answered with durability and service, a hard-running forward who has quietly become one of the most-capped players in Ghanaian football history.
