André Ayew

André Ayew has won 120 caps for Ghana, played at three World Cups and eight Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, and was top scorer at AFCON 2015. In 2011 he was BBC African Footballer of the Year.

Abedi Pele's son

André Morgan Rami Ayew was born in France on 17 December 1989, the second son of Abedi Pele; his brothers Ibrahim and Jordan also became professionals. He started at 1860 Munich, his father's old club, and played senior football in Ghana at 14 for Nania, the club his father chairs. In 2006 he joined Marseille's academy.

Club career

After loans at Lorient and Arles-Avignon, whom he helped into Ligue 1, he became a Marseille regular under Didier Deschamps, playing more than 200 games and winning the Coupe de la Ligue and Trophée des Champions in 2010 and 2011. He later played in the Premier League with Swansea City, where he was Player of the Month in August 2015, and in Qatar, England and France. He finished 2025-26 at NAC Breda in the Netherlands and has said he wants to keep playing in 2026-27.

Black Stars

In 2009 he captained the Black Satellites to both the African youth title and the U-20 World Cup. With the senior team he reached the AFCON finals of 2010 and 2015 and played at the 2010, 2014 and 2022 World Cups.
