Kalsoume Sinare

Kalsoume Sinare is one of the grande dames of Ghanaian screen, a former beauty queen turned acclaimed actress whose career has spanned nearly four decades, and who now represents her country as a diplomat.

Early life and modelling

She was born and raised in Accra, the eldest of nine children, and attended Accra High School. She began in entertainment as a model, and in 1990 won the Miss Model of the World pageant, representing Ghana on an international stage and becoming a familiar face in television commercials.

Acting career

She moved from modelling into acting, making her debut in the stage production Theatre Mirrors before a screen career that would take in more than fifty films. Her lead role in the religious horror film Babina made her immensely popular, and she followed it with titles like Trinity and Sala, earning a Golden Actress award along the way.

Public life

She married the Ghanaian international footballer Anthony Baffoe in 1994. In recent years she has moved into diplomacy, serving as Ghana's ambassador to Spain, adding a new chapter to a career already rich in achievement.
