Kwaku Manu

Kwaku Manu is one of the most popular comic actors of Ghana's Kumawood industry, a performer who turned a hard-scrabble start into a wide-ranging career in acting, music, presenting and business.

Early life

He was born on 6 March 1984 in Obuasi, in the Ashanti Region, the son of a shoemaker. He grew up in Kumasi and dropped out of junior high school to work with his father in the shoemaking trade, a humble beginning that shaped his relatable, everyman appeal.

Kumawood career

He broke into the Kumawood film industry and gained wider recognition after joining Agya Koo's production outfit. Making his debut in Aware So, he went on to appear in a long list of films, becoming one of the most familiar comic faces in Twi-language cinema.

Beyond acting

He has extended his brand well beyond film. He hosts the popular Aggressive Interview series on his YouTube channel, quizzing figures from Ghanaian entertainment, and works as a musician and entrepreneur, running his own perfume business among other ventures.
