Kofi Adjorlolo

Kofi Adjorlolo was a trumpeter and organist before he was an actor. In his twenties he played in Nigeria with Victor Uwaifo, of "Joromi" fame, and back home he formed the Osagyefo band. He joined Ghanaian film in 2003 and became one of its most familiar faces.

Background

He was born in Keta on 14 June 1956 and attended AME Zion School and Keta Senior High Technical School, then did sixth form at Ebenezer Secondary School in Dansoman. He has a degree in mass communication from the University of Ghana. Besides music he worked as a civil servant and as a radio presenter at GBC and Peace FM, and helped set up the religious station Channel R.

Film

He has been nominated four times for best supporting actor at the Ghana Movie Awards, the AMAAs and the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards, and once for best lead actor. He won best cameo actor at the 2011 Ghana Movie Awards and received an International Golden Image award from Liberia's President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. Hot 93.9 FM honoured him for 30 years in showbiz.
