Kofi Adjorlolo

Kofi Adjorlolo is one of Ghana's most recognisable veteran actors, a versatile performer who came to acting after a first career in music and became a fixture of both Ghallywood and Nollywood.

Early life

He was born on 14 June 1956 in Keta, in the Volta Region. Drawn to the arts from a young age, his first love was music, and he was educated at Keta Senior High Technical School before pursuing a varied career path.

From music to acting

He began as a musician, playing trumpet and organ, and in his twenties travelled to Nigeria to play alongside the famed musician Victor Uwaifo. He also worked as a civil servant and a radio presenter at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation and Peace FM, before joining the Ghana movie industry in 2003.

Screen career

He became a prolific and respected actor across Ghanaian and Nigerian cinema, known for authoritative, often paternal roles. His skill won him admirers across West Africa, and honours including an international award from the Liberian president and Best Cameo Actor at the 2011 Ghana Movie Awards.
