Otumfuo Opoku Ware II (1919–1999) was the 15th Asantehene, king of the Asante, reigning for 29 years from 1970 until his death. A lawyer and diplomat before ascending the Golden Stool, he succeeded his uncle Prempeh II and was in turn succeeded by Osei Tutu II.
