Patricia Obo-Nai

Patricia Obo-Nai is a Ghanaian telecommunications engineer and business executive who serves as Chief Executive Officer of Telecel Ghana, the operator formerly known as Vodafone Ghana. A trailblazer in a male-dominated industry, she made history as the first Ghanaian to lead the company and has become a prominent role model for women in technology and corporate leadership across Africa.

Obo-Nai's academic path was rooted in the sciences. She attended St Roses Senior High School in Akwatia and Presbyterian Boys' Senior High School for her secondary education, then earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. She later obtained an MBA from the University of Ghana and pursued executive education at the Kellogg School of Management and INSEAD, combining deep technical training with business and leadership development.

Her career in information technology and telecommunications began in 1997. She started as a network planning engineer with Millicom Ghana, the operator behind the Tigo brand, and rose through its ranks to become the first and only female Chief Technology Officer in the company. That engineering pedigree distinguished her in an industry where women in senior technical roles remained rare, and it gave her a grounding in the operational realities of running a mobile network.

Obo-Nai was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Ghana in early 2019, taking up the role in April of that year and becoming the first Ghanaian to hold the position. When the business was acquired and rebranded as Telecel Ghana in 2024, she continued to lead the operator through the transition, steering the company as it adopted a new identity while maintaining its position as one of the country's major telecommunications providers. Her leadership has spanned network expansion, digital services and organisational change.

Her achievements have been widely recognised. In 2021 she was named among the top fifty most influential female leaders in Africa in the corporate and business sphere by Leading Ladies Africa, reflecting her standing as one of the continent's notable executives. As CEO of Telecel Ghana she continues to champion digital inclusion, women's advancement in technology and the growth of Ghana's telecommunications sector. Her career, built on engineering excellence and steady progression to the top, has made her an enduring example of Ghanaian professional achievement.
