About Akosua Agyapong
In 1992 Akosua Agyapong joined Amandzeba Nat Brew and Rex Omar in a highlife supergroup named from the first letters of their names: NAKOREX. Their song "Kpanlogo" capped a run that had begun two years earlier with her debut album, Frema.
Roots
She was born in Accra on 17 November 1969 to Asante and Akyem parents and attended Holy Child School in Cape Coast. The highlife great Nana Ampadu discovered her.
Music
Frema, released on 1 January 1990, produced hits such as "Me Ye Obaa", "Anan Tuo" and "San Be Hwe Wo Mba", and her second album, Esiwa, was another success. After NAKOREX she took a long break and returned as a gospel singer; she has five solo albums. In August 2019 a tribute event, "Celebrating Akosua Adjepong 30@50", marked her 30 years in music, and the 3Music Awards have honoured her achievements.
Family
She was married to Amandzeba Nat Brew for some years and they have four children. She is now married to Prophet Daniel Asamoah-Larbi, with whom she has two more.
