Anthony Dzamefe
CEO of Caveman Watches
About Anthony Dzamefe
Anthony Dzamefe is a Ghanaian entrepreneur and the founder and chief executive of Caveman Watches, widely described as Ghana's first luxury watchmaking brand. Born on 12 December 1991 in the Volta Region, he built the business from a single resold watch into an internationally recognised name.
Early life
Dzamefe is from Lume and grew up in Ho. He studied biological science at Saint Paul Senior High School in Denu and later business administration and management at the University of Professional Studies, Accra.
From Kantamanto to Caveman
Before watches, he worked for a hotel in Accra, holding up name cards for arriving passengers at the airport for about 80 dollars a month. In 2015 he bought his first watch for GH₵50, sold it at a profit in Kantamanto Market and learned to make straps from a cobbler. That trade grew into TimepieceGh, which sold imported branded watches, and on 12 December 2018 he launched Caveman Watches, a brand of its own design, with products rolling out from January 2019.
Recognition
Caveman Watches has been covered by The New York Times, Forbes and other international outlets as a symbol of made-in-Ghana luxury. Dzamefe is a TEDx speaker and business coach, and the author of The Inside Job. His story of starting with GH₵50 has become one of the best known small-business journeys among young Ghanaians.
