Bernard Sokpe
CEO of Jambo Spaces
About Bernard Sokpe
Bernard Kafui Sokpe is a Ghanaian digital marketer, creative-industry entrepreneur and co-founder of Jambo Spaces, which describes itself as Ghana's first digital creator hub and incubator. He also founded the digital consultancy Brandmeister.
Career
Sokpe began in telecoms marketing, working at Tigo before becoming a digital brand specialist at Vodafone Ghana. He went on to manage the music career of Mr Eazi and played a part in the growth of the annual Detty Rave event in Accra. In 2021, when Twitter opened its first African office, he joined the company as senior partner manager responsible for partnerships in Africa. He and his team were laid off after Elon Musk bought the company.
Jambo Spaces
That setback led to Jambo Spaces, launched in Accra in 2023 with co-founders Therese Jones and Natasha Mann-Dedey. It is a co-working, events and incubation space built to give Ghanaian creatives the support system many of them lack: somewhere to work, learn, meet brands and build careers. In 2024 the hub received a 20,000 euro grant from the French Embassy's Creation Africa initiative.
Message to young people
In interviews Sokpe encourages young Ghanaians to take every opportunity that comes their way, a view shaped by a career that moved from telecoms to music to global tech and back to building at home.
