Phone beats to Fruity Loops
Ronald Banful was born in Palermo, Italy, on 17 January 1990 and moved to Ghana at six. He had a toy piano before he could walk and taught himself to play. At 12 he was making beats on his Sony Ericsson phone's Music DJ app, and in junior high he made beats for rap battles. A computer at 17 let him learn Fruity Loops by copying American hits.
Producer and DJ
He signed to Star Productions in April 2010 and switched to Logic Pro. He has produced for Sarkodie, R2Bees, Efya, Stonebwoy, Pappy Kojo, Mr Eazi and Bisa Kdei, Nigerian acts including Wizkid, Wande Coal and Jesse Jagz, Angola's Cabo Snoop, and UK artists Sway and Moelogo. His first single as a lead artiste was "Chance" with Mr Eazi in 2016. "Akwaaba" (2018), with Mr Eazi, Patapaa and Pappy Kojo, was his breakthrough and appeared on Face2Face Africa's list of the year's most popular African songs. He began DJing in 2018 and released the EP Different in 2020.
