Hamza Obeng

Hamza Obeng is a Ghanaian football coach who is the interim head coach of Asante Kotoko, one of Ghana's two most successful clubs. He took charge of the team during the 2026-27 Ghana Premier League season after serving on the club's technical staff.

Kotoko interim head coach

By late October 2026 Obeng was leading Kotoko's technical team on an interim basis. Results in that run included a 2-1 win over Young Apostles, a 1-0 defeat to Swedru All Blacks and a 1-1 draw with AshantiGold. On 30 October 2026, with Kotoko eighth on 12 points after eight matches, he admitted the team lacked consistency and said the staff were working to fix it.

On 1 November 2026 Kotoko drew 1-1 with league leaders Medeama at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, a match overshadowed by an incident in which his Portuguese assistant, Diogo Peral, was sent off for striking Medeama defender Ebenezer Adade. Kotoko fined Peral, and the Ghana Football Association charged him. After the game Obeng told fans the club was "not okay with the results" and promised improvement, with Kotoko ninth on 13 points ahead of a trip to Berekum Chelsea on 8 November 2026.
