Keche

Keche is a Ghanaian hiplife duo made up of Joshua Kojo Ampah and Andrew Kofi Cudjoe. The name means "skills" in Akan. Known for Sokode, Aluguntugui and No Dulling, they have won Best Group at the Ghana Music Awards twice, in 2021 and 2026.

Formation

The pair met at St. John's Senior Secondary School, where both played sport. Joshua comes from the Central Region and Andrew from the Western Region, and they freestyled together in Fante. By 2005 they were recording demos and mixtapes in studios around Tema, including the studio of the sound engineer Kaywa.

Career

Their first single, Omogemi, came out in 2008, followed by Ring My Bell with Sarkodie and the album Pressure. Sokode (2011) was a hit well beyond Ghana, and Aluguntugui (2012) and Diabetes (2014) kept them on the radio. In 2011 Liberian president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf named them Global Ambassadors for Peace, and in 2014 they performed at a UN peace concert in Monrovia. They signed with Gem Rhythms, part of Gem Multimedia, in 2019.

No Dulling, with Kuami Eugene, won Hiplife Song of the Year at the 2021 Ghana Music Awards, where Keche also won Best Group of the Year. Later singles include Party of the Year with Mr Drew (2023), My Father with King Paluta (2024) and Papapa with Lasmid (2025). They won Best Group again in 2026.
