King of Accra

Nii Kommetey Commey, known as King of Accra, is a Ghanaian record producer, sound engineer, rapper and singer. He first drew attention for his work on Sarkodie's Bra Bɛ Whɛ, which also features him and Guru, and he has produced several of Sarkodie's singles.

Early life and education

He was born at North Kaneshie in Accra. His father was a Christian minister whose work moved the family around Ghana before they settled at Mempeasem in East Legon. He attended Elican School from kindergarten to junior high (1990 to 2001) and Accra Academy, which he finished in 2005, and in 2008 he enrolled at the University of Ghana to study philosophy, psychology and music.

Production work

His credits include You Already Know from Sarkodie's album Sarkology and the Sarkodie singles Daabi and This Game, released between 2009 and 2015. He also produced Pressure Girl and Solo Artist for Samini and Bakaji for DJ Mensah.

Solo music

In April 2019 he launched kingofaccra.com, a site where established and upcoming musicians can get beats. A year later he released the self-produced single Lonely in the Garden, and in November 2020 he put out his first album, Adulthood, a 19-track project he produced himself, with guests including Magnom.
