Lisa Quama

Lisa Quama is a Ghanaian dancer, choreographer and social media personality. She was the first female Ghanaian dancer to be verified on TikTok, where she has built a following of more than three million people.

Background

Quama was born in Accra and raised in a Christian home. Her father is Ga, from Teshie, and her mother is Frafra, from northern Ghana. She attended the University of Ghana. In interviews she has recalled that her parents' main worry about her dancing was simply that she came home late.

DWP Academy

She trained at the Dance With A Purpose (DWP) Academy, where her command of contemporary, hip-hop and Afrobeats styles made her one of its standout performers. Her dance videos, first posted during her school years, spread quickly online for their energy and precision.

Global stages

Quama has danced with international acts, including work connected to Beyonce's Black Is King project, and has performed alongside stars such as Usher and Ghanaian dancer Dancegod Lloyd. She has won Best Dancer at the Ghana Dance Awards and was nominated at the Ghana Entertainment Awards USA in 2024. Many young African women see her career as proof that Ghanaian dance can reach the world stage.
