About Randy Abbey
Randy Abbey hosted Metro TV's Good Morning Ghana from 2002 until January 2025, when he left the studio to run the Ghana Cocoa Board. President John Mahama appointed him acting chief executive of COCOBOD that month.
Early life and education
Ransford Annetey Abbey was born on 6 January 1974 in Accra and attended the Accra Academy. He has qualifications from GIMPA and the Ghana Institute of Journalism, an MBA from the Australian Institute of Business and a doctorate from SBS Swiss Business School.
Media and football
Besides presenting, he was managing director of the Ignite Media Group until the end of 2024. In football he was spokesman for the Ghana Football Association from 2006 to 2014, the period of Ghana's first two World Cups, and was elected to the GFA Executive Council in 2019. He has chaired the management committees of the Black Satellites and the Black Meteors and the referees appointment committee, and since 2014 he has been the majority owner and president of Kpando Hearts of Lions. In 2006 he received both the Order of the Volta and the Grand Medal.
