Akosua Dentaa Amoateng

Akosua Dentaa Amoateng is a Ghanaian-British social entrepreneur, television host and philanthropist who founded and leads GUBA Enterprise, a diaspora-focused organisation dedicated to celebrating and advancing the interests of Africans at home and abroad. Honoured with an MBE by Queen Elizabeth II, she has built a reputation as a bridge between the African diaspora and the continent's development.

Born in 1983 in Juaso in Ghana's Ashanti Region, she moved to the United Kingdom at the age of five and grew up navigating both Ghanaian and British worlds. That dual identity would later shape her life's work. Before founding GUBA she worked across several fields, including as an actress, a television host with her own show and even as a football agent, experiences that gave her a broad understanding of media, business and networking.

GUBA, which stands for Grow, Unite, Build Africa, began as an awards platform recognising the achievements of Ghanaians and Africans in the diaspora, particularly in Britain, and grew into a wider social enterprise. Under Amoateng's leadership it has expanded its programmes to include initiatives in enterprise, culture and diaspora engagement, and it has staged events aimed at connecting successful Africans abroad with opportunities on the continent. She has spoken of ambitions to extend the organisation's footprint to the United States, reflecting its steadily widening reach.

Her contributions were formally recognised in 2016 when she was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen's Birthday Honours, an award that acknowledged her work with the African diaspora community in the United Kingdom. The distinction elevated her profile and reinforced her standing as an advocate for diaspora Africans seeking to invest in and reconnect with their heritage.

Amoateng continues to serve as President and Founder of GUBA Enterprise, using the platform to promote socio-economic programmes designed to help Africans and members of the diaspora access funding, recognition and networks. Frequently featured in profiles of influential women of African descent, she is regarded as a determined champion of the idea that the diaspora can play a central role in Africa's growth. Her career blends entertainment, enterprise and advocacy, and she remains a visible ambassador for closer ties between Africans across the world and the continent they call home.
