Ben Tackie

Ben Tackie's tenth-round knockout of Robert Garcia was The Ring magazine's knockout of the year for 2000. Two years later he went the distance with Kostya Tszyu, losing on points with three of the 140-pound world belts on the line.

Career

Benjamin Tackie, nicknamed "Wonder", was born on 23 July 1973 and turned professional in 1994. He was unbeaten through 18 bouts until Gregorio Vargas outpointed him in 1999. After the Tszyu fight he lost to Sharmba Mitchell and Ricky Hatton, and in September 2008 to Matthew Hatton on the undercard of Ricky's title defence in Las Vegas. Famous for his chin and work rate, he was knocked down only once in more than 40 fights, and all but one of his defeats came on points.

In February 2015 a court in the Bronx, New York, overturned a stalking conviction against him, ruling that a remark about using his boxing skills did not meet the legal threshold.
