Bernard Kwesi Odompleh

Bernard Kwesi Odompleh, widely known as Nene Odompleh, is a Ghanaian blogger, digital journalist and media entrepreneur. He is the founder and team lead of The1957News, an online news portal covering politics, entertainment, sports, business and national affairs. Avance Media ranked him 36th on its 2023 list of the Top 50 Ghanaian Bloggers.

Early life and education

Odompleh was born on 29 April 2000. He attended New Juaben Senior High School, where he studied General Science and served as Assistant Boys' Prefect.

He went on to the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC), Institute of Journalism, where he first earned a Diploma in Communication Studies. He then completed a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations with Marketing and graduated with First Class Honours at the ceremony held on 28 November 2025.

The1957News

Odompleh started blogging in August 2020 and built The1957News into a news site with a following across Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. He has credited media personality Berla Mundi with helping him find his niche in blogging, and Kwame Owusu Danso with guidance in his early days, including help conceiving and naming the platform.

Recognition

In October 2023 Avance Media placed him 36th in the fifth edition of its Top 50 Ghanaian Bloggers ranking, which scores bloggers on website traffic and social media engagement. It was his first appearance on the list. At the 2025 Ghana Creators Awards, The1957News was named News and Media Creator of the Year.

On 12 March 2026 he gave a guest lecture on how to blog to students in the University of Ghana's Department of Communication Studies, at the invitation of Dr Aurelia Ayisi and Dr Diana A. Sebbie Gama.

Other work

Odompleh has announced plans for a Bloggers Networking and Capacity Building Event, meant to bring bloggers from across Ghana together for training and collaboration.
