Big Akwes

Christian Akwasi Asamoah, popularly known as Big Akwes, is one of Kumawood's most distinctive voices: a comedian, actor, and media personality whose career began far from any studio. Before becoming a recognisable face in Akan-language cinema, he repaired mobile phones at Adum, one of Kumasi's busiest commercial areas. Evangelist and the Daddy Lumba remarks

Big Akwes has said he was ordained as an evangelist after six months of study at the Unique Bible School. On 28 July 2025, speaking on Obaatanpa Radio days after the death of highlife star Daddy Lumba, he said he had been happy to hear the news because Lumba had suffered for years, citing the singer's spinal surgery and long periods in a wheelchair. The comments drew a mixed response online.
