Elikem Kumordzie

Elikem Kumordzie is a Ghanaian fashion designer and actor, known widely as "Elikem The Tailor". Born on 7 November 1988, he first became a household name across Africa as Ghana's representative on Big Brother Africa: The Chase in 2013.

Big Brother Africa

His run on the reality show brought him attention far beyond Ghana, and he finished among the top contestants of that season. It was also where he met Zimbabwean fashion designer Pokello Nare, a fellow housemate whom he later married.

The Tailor

Fashion remains the core of his work. Kumordzie is known for exclusive pieces made for Ghanaian celebrities and for designs that blend traditional African styles with modern tailoring. At one point he served as an official designer for the Black Stars, Ghana's national football team. He has spoken about his ambition to build an African fashion business on the scale of global high-street brands.

Acting

Alongside fashion, Kumordzie has built an acting career in Ghanaian film, with roles in productions including Happy Deathday, Cheaters Book, Silver Rain and Bachelors. His mix of screen work, design and reality television fame has made him one of the more recognisable names in Ghana's entertainment and style scene.

Marriage and divorce

Kumordzie proposed to Pokello Nare on stage at the 2014 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, where the pair had been invited to present an award, and they married in a traditional Zimbabwean ceremony in 2015. Reports of a split began in 2017, and in 2018 he filed for divorce, telling the court the marriage had broken down beyond repair and citing, among other things, her discomfort with his romantic roles in films. Pokello said he had not been ready to be a husband. In a 2024 interview Kumordzie said the marriage failed because he had not understood what marriage meant.
